*Newsflash: $128 million to train teachers on computers.

President Clinton announced June 3 that the Federal Government
will provide $128 million across three years in federal grants
to train American teachers in how to use computers. In
reporting the grants the Associated Press said that last year an
Education Department survey of 3,560 K-12 teachers found that
only 1 in 5 felt "very well prepared" to use computers in the
classroom. The grants will support partnerships between teacher
colleges, elementary and secondary schools, community-based
organizations and hightech companies.

Stay tuned. FutureU will look into the details and report them
to you soon.
